Cajun and Creole~ Food of Louisiana

September 20 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

$65.00

Sold out!  NO worries, we do this one all year long cuz it’s one of our best:!

Adult tickets only.  You can bring a teen to this class but you must pay the adult ticket price.  This class is not recommended for younger kids.

Food from the South has long been iconic in America! Southerners have a knack for making food that is flavorful, spicy, and completely addicting. In this class, we are going to focus on a specific region of the south: Louisiana. The state has a large amount of French influence in their cuisine, from way back when the area was owned by France. Over time, the food has evolved into what we know today as either “Cajun” or “Creole.” In this class, we will discover the differences between those two cousins, and make some delicious dishes as well. We’ll make dishes as such: Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice, Shrimp and Grits, Po Boys, Muffuletta, Crawfish Etouffe, Deep Fried Cajun-style Deviled Eggs, and Beignets with Banana Rum Sauce and Pralines for dessert! We’ll wash it all down with a classic New Orleans Hurricane drink!  This class is sure to be delicious and educational- win-win!

COVID 19 UPDATE: At this time we are allowing optional masking for all students and it is no longer mandatory to wear a mask to class due to the recent state mandate enforced 2/28/22.  We will be providing hand sanitizer at the door upon your arrival. If you have any symptoms, have been around someone with symptoms, or have traveled outside the country recently we are asking that you please stay home and find someone to replace your ticket.  Thank you for supporting us during this challenging time! We will do our best to make our classes as educational and fun as ever.  Class ending times may vary. Please wear closed-toed shoes and wear your hair up off your shoulders.  Bring  a beverage to drink if you wish. We will also provide aprons. We will have filtered water to drink. Byob if you wish.

Our classes are popular and often sell out!  You must cancel your registration at least 5 days in advance of the class date to receive the opportunity to raincheck your tickets to another class (there is a fee to do so). We do not offer refunds for any reason, including Covid related issues. There is a $50 fee (per ticket) to raincheck your tickets to another future class, which is due at the time that you move your tickets. You can raincheck your tickets by calling the school at 309-263-6020 or by emailing us your request to raincheck at thecookeryinc@gmail.com.  Tickets canceled the day before or on the day of class will not receive a refund or rain check opportunity for any reason (even Covid / exposure related – we simply cannot accommodate for this).  You may gift or sell your tickets to someone else (for no fee) if you are not able to come- this is the best option if you have to cancel.

If you have a cardboard gift card with a 3-digit number and want to redeem it for this class, you must call or email to reserve your class spot prior to the class selling out.  If you reserve your spot with a gift card and do not show, you will forfeit the amount owed for the class from your gift card. To cash in your cardboard gift card, contact Amanda at thecookeryinc@gmail.com

If your gift card has a 16-digit code, you can cash it in online when you purchase your ticket.  Codes are case sensitive and require the dash marks to be entered to process the code.
