It’s now 2020, and Indian food is still super new to the United States. There are only about 5,000 Indian restaurants nationwide! Many people assume two things: One, it’s going to be very spicy and two, I’m not going to like it! India may be the largest producer of spices in the world, but their food is not overly spicy. What it is, is vibrant, balanced, fresh, and delicious. And it is definitely more than just curry! In this workshop, we will explore the unique spices, flavors and techniques of India in this class that showcases traditional favorites.  We’ll make dishes such as: Tikka Masala, Kachumbar (tomato & cucumber salad), Mulligatawny Soup, Alu Gobi, Indian Chapati Bread, Tandoori Chicken, Beef Samosas, and Kulfi Ice Cream.  We’ll wash everything down with a comforting, warm cup of Masala Chai. Even skeptics will leave this class with a new appreciation (and addiction) for Indian cuisine!

COVID 19 UPDATE: At this time we are asking all students to wear a mask to class. We will be taking temperatures at the door, as well as providing hand sanitizer upon your arrival. If you have any symptoms, have been around someone with symptoms, or have traveled outside the country recently we are asking that you please stay home. You may call to cancel your ticket, and we will issue a credit to be used on a future class. Thank you for supporting us during this challenging time! We will do our best to make our classes as educational and fun as ever.

Class ending times may vary. Please wear closed-toed shoes and wear your hair up off your shoulders.  Bring your favorite knife and a beverage to drink if you wish. You can bring adult beverages if you’d like. We will provide knives if you do not have them.  We will also provide aprons. We will have filtered water to drink.

Our classes are popular and often sell out!  You must cancel your registration at least 7 days in advance to receive a full refund for this class.  There will be a processing fee to cancel your ticket per person no matter when you cancel. You can cancel by calling the school at 309-263-6020 or by emailing us your request to cancel at thecookeryinc@gmail.com.  Tickets canceled the day before or on the day of class will not receive a refund for any reason.  You may gift or sell your tickets to someone else if you are not able to come but we cannot forward them to another class.

If you have a cardboard gift card with a 3-digit number and want to redeem it for this class, you must call or email to reserve your class spot prior to the class selling out.  If you reserve your spot with a gift card and do not show, you will forfeit the amount owed for the class from your gift card. If your gift card has a 16-digit code, you can cash it in online when you purchase your ticket.
