Appropriate for ages 7 and up!!  This class is about breaking bad habits and building proper skills!

This is by far our most popular workshop!  Both young and old need this class- we break the bad habits of the adults, and get the kids started on the right track. If you want to become a faster, safer, and more efficient cook, then this is the class for you!  This is one of our favorite classes to teach, because it is  truly life-changing in the kitchen. Not only will the education be on using your knife, but we’ll also talk about how to find and buy a good knife, how to store it, clean it, and sharpen it!  We’ll get in the kitchen to learn all of the basic knife cuts and a whole lot more!  We will reinforce good knife skills in this class and put those chopping skills to use in seasonal dishes such as:  Feta Bruschetta, Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips, Broccoli Cauliflower Salad, Black Bean and Corn Salsa, Cold Veggie Pizza, Asian Noodle Salad, and Roasted Corn Guacamole with Fresh Fried Chips.  This is a great class for adults and kids, and to grab some great new staple recipes, too!  Come hungry!!

COVID 19 UPDATE: At this time we are asking all students to wear a mask to class. We will be taking temperatures at the door and taste testing, as well as providing hand sanitizer upon your arrival. If you have any symptoms, have been around someone with symptoms, or have traveled outside the country recently we are asking that you please stay home. You may call to cancel your ticket 2 days in advance and we will issue a credit to be used on a future class. Thank you for supporting us during this challenging time! We will do our best to make our classes as educational and fun as ever.

Class ending times may vary. Please wear closed-toed shoes and wear your hair up off your shoulders.  Bring your favorite knife and a beverage to drink if you wish. You can bring adult beverages if you’d like. We will provide knives for you.  We will also provide aprons. We will have filtered water to drink.

Our classes are popular and often sell out!  You must cancel your registration at least 7 days in advance to receive a full refund for this class.  There will be a processing fee to cancel your ticket per person no matter when you cancel. You can cancel by calling the school at 309-263-6020 or by emailing us your request to cancel at thecookeryinc@gmail.com.  Tickets canceled the day before or on the day of class will not receive a refund for any reason.  You may gift or sell your tickets to someone else if you are not able to come but we cannot forward them to another class.

If you have a cardboard gift card with a 3-digit number and want to redeem it for this class, you must call or email to reserve your class spot prior to the class selling out.  If you reserve your spot with a gift card and do not show, you will forfeit the amount owed for the class from your gift card. If your gift card has a 16-digit code, you can cash it in online when you purchase your ticket.
